The registration period for the 2010 CYS Program is February 1 - 28, 2010.
Teacher and school cooperation is essential to make Count Your Steps a success.
Follow these steps to track the student's progress:
If you need assistance, please call 248-452-9174. Other Guidelines for teachers:
If Saturday or Sunday is a Sabbath day for a student, have the student log their steps from the previous day or take their average from the week. Teachers and school personnel have the right to disqualify or set ground rules for a student if they feel the student is not following contest rules or is cheating. All first, second and third place prizes are raffled. Prizes are only an incentive to get the kids moving and give them reason to keep up the good work. If a pedometer is lost or broken, a replacement pedometer can be purchased from a local sports/department store at the parent or school's expense. Pedometers may accidentally reset to zero. If this occurs, the child is allowed to record the total steps logged on the previous day. Supplement the program with lessons about physical activity & healthy eating.
Step Guidelines:
About 2,000 steps=1 mile. The national goal is for individuals to achieve 10,000 steps or more. Children typically average 15,000-20,000 steps a day. An equivalent of 5 miles and 45-60 minutes of exercise daily.
